OIL pressure from EJ motor to EA81 guage...

Post by stinky » Mon Jun 16, 2008 1:56 pm

What's the best way to make this work? Seems the EJ sender gives a signal that the EA guage can't read. Is there a trick to making it work other than shunting an EA81 oil sensor into the system and wiring that to the guage ?

is this your EJ20T brumby?

most oil pressure switches are just that, a switch, and not a pressure reader.
tey simply turn off the oil light on the dash when oil pressure is higher than the switches setting.

most likely id think you actually need to get a Presser sensor and replace the switch.

although i dont know much specifically about the EJ20T's i cant recall seing a WRX that had a Oil Pressure Guage so most likely wont have a Pressure Sensor.

Just use the gauge sender that is meant to be a match for the gauge.
Unless the ECU needs to know this, in which case you'll need two senders.
A lot of late model cars now have an oil pressure sensor that the ECU can see and will log codes for sensor failure.
