I will check the simple things. If its any help I only noticed the smoke after using SUEC. I have heard that it can bring out problems within the engine through the cleaning process. Like making seals worse then what they are and so on.
If it is sucking oil in the PCV valve then would replacing the valve solve that or I need to find why oil is being sucked in their?
No missfiring. She seems to run like new. Uses from a full dip stick to almost not reading on the dipstick after 2000km. Mainly highway driving though.

Yes well the sumpguard has almost non in it. 1 drop so its not leaking much through the rocker covers if at all. Might of been there from sitting in the shed for the past few weeks, theres non on the drive way either. Its defernately coming out the exhaust. I might replace a few small things like the rocker cover seals and spark plug gaskets. Think I will get a mechanic to do it, shouldn't take them long as they know what they are doing and the engine doesn't need to be pulled.
Will change the oil this afternoon and try something abit thicker compared to my Shell 15w40. If there is coolant in there then that could possibly be head gaskets.
My mother says its normal for an 'old car' to use that much oil but shes thinking cars from the 70's and 80's FFS. Will check the PCV valve hose too and make a not if there is any oil in there. Also couldn't hurt to have a read of my Subaru EJ repair manual as that could be handy for doing a few things.
Thunder; there were clouds of smoke when you plant your foot to the ground. lol

how many ks have you done since using the UEC?
i think from the low mark to the full mark on the dipstick is about 500-600ml.
id take it to a mechanic (definately a subaru mechanic) dont just go to any mechanic, most of them deal with commonwhores and know sweet **** all about subarus. Dont tell the mechanic youre having troubles, just tell him to change the seals you mentioned and see what he says about it and if he finds or suspects any other faults.

the white smoke is a worry and thwe fact it is using a lot of oil is a clue. the oil use could be just valve stem seals, but with the white smoke, which is usually water, I would want to know if you have to top the radiator up.
if you do, it would suggest that one of the head gaskets is on the way out, get the local mechanic radiaqtor shop to test the radiator water, they can sniff out combustion residue in the radiator which is pretty sure a gasket.
if no residue, maybe just valve stem seals, bear in mind that as the oil level goes down the oil gets hot and fumes more and tends to burn oil. not to forget pcv valve etc, tho,.

Sorry to hear of your woes Taza.
My advice...KISS!
Keep It Simple Son
Check the easy to fix things first...
You mentioned you were going to see your mechanic....what did he say?
Oil change is a good idea, my preference would be Penrite 20W50 if you suspect worn rings/ valves.
Good luck mate, hope its something simple....

Well i haven't had a chance to take it to a mechanic but my mate and I did a few things this afternoon. I changed the oil. Put Shell HX-3 20w50 in, replaced the oil filter, new air filter and ECU reset for the hell of it. There was no coolant in the oil which is a good sign.
Seems to be better now. And after standing behind it both Dave and myself its more like water vapour coming out and not really cloudy. only seems to do it when you rev it and not all that much, unlike when there was very little oil. it was quite wet, even with the engine warm. Its not so much like smoke but water vapour only with carbon coming out too.Im not sure where to go from here. I think the let over carbon is from using the UEC or is the burning oil. Im not sure where to go from here.
I have on order a new PCV valve so I will see if that makes any difference and probably get the f**ked seals replaced.
But all that oil is burnign so im thinking seals, spark plug gaskets mainly...
Suggestions???
Ken yeah I should put your 2.5 with the DCCD and 6 speed box, that would be awesome but I don't have the money

White smoke you say... I'd be looking at the breathers.. Check that air cleaner is actually clean. Definately replace that PCV valve, it needs to be replaced/cleaned as per service manual intervals.
When did you check the oil level? after you drove the car or first thing in the morning? The horizontally opposed engines need to be rested a little before checking the level.

I replaced the air filter and oil yesterday. The PCV valve will be here tomorrow so I will replace that. I will book her in for the spark plug gaskets next week too.RSR 555 wrote:White smoke you say... I'd be looking at the breathers.. Check that air cleaner is actually clean. I think I will replace the O2 sensor aswell because she is running quite rich, carbon or unburnt fuel coming out the back. Not really sure.
The smoke/water vapour stuff was coming out when the engine was warm at normal operating temp after driving for 40mins or so. This was in the afternoon, not the morning.
The car had been running for the same 40mins or so then I let her sit for 5 before checking the oil. It only just read on the dip stick, quite abit below the low mark but now she has new thicker oil.
