EJ22 oil leakings

Post by SUBYDAZZ » Fri Jun 20, 2008 12:09 pm

So, my EJ22 has always seeped oil around the rocker covers area and underneath, but now is much more of a *leak* and I'd like to get on top of this. Will rocker cover gaskets do the trick or might there be something more sinister at work here?

Also, can you replace them on the car, or do you have to lift the motor up to do them?

there are also 6 washers under the bolts that hold the rocker cover on they are a huge $3.05 each (=$18.30 for the six) be worth doing while your in there...... you should be able to do them in situ (i did mine it, was a little fiddly but certainly do-able)

Excellent Smithers...

I'll be sure and get those washers too.

yeah quite often it actually turns out to be those washers more than the gaskets themselves - definitely worth doing.

Yeah washers and gasket seals - I did mine about 60,000kms ago. There is a small cover on drivers side at the back of the heads (its a distributor section cover) and the cover usually leak there. Only way is to get a new o ring seal.
Cheers
