1985 subaru engine

i have bought a 1985 subau sedan engine ea82
it has a miss in the left head its like when the left piston comes up its like it pushes air into the other chamber and when it comes up it go back and forth
do subaru's usualy blow head gaskets or what do think it is it has spark

Is the water in the radiator clean? ie. check for signs of oil in the water.

So can you hear air escaping the spark plug hole on cylinder 4 when cylinder 2 is on coming up on compression?

Hey bundy dave,

To answer your question, yes, EA82's do blow headgaskets, typically around the 300,000km's or more if treated really well.

How many k's does your car have? Tell us a little more about it, how long have you had it, what its doing, or what you think its not doing that it should.
