what are these?

Okay, I just installed this gearbox into my car (5-speed dual range). I was just wondering what these two pins are for sticking out of the dust boot? They are threaded so something bolts down onto them.

Fixed the pics for ya 8) Webshots won't let you use pics that they've hosted, think it saves them on bandwidth.

Looks like the mounts for the 4WD-engaged light switch.

yep mudrat is spot on. There is a little switch which the lever hits when you select low range - lights up an organge box saying 'lo' in the car indicator display thing...

I have the exact switch hanging off my old gearbox gearstick linkages. But you'd have to have the wiring + connector hidden under the carpet to connect up the switch (wiring should come from around drivers footwell, up the side of the centre console, then accross the back to where those 2 studs are. i think from memory the connector is blue and rectangularish.

Hope that helps 8)

Thanks guys just wanted to make sure it was not anything important. The gearbox is now in what was a allwheel drive automatic car so there is no 4wd Low light on the dash, and there is no way I am swapping dashes so I can have a silly little light.

If you look in the dialogue for your post Thomas you'll see that I just posted them in the USMB gallery. Works fine for me!
