clutch pedal adjustment l series

Post by gazcull » Tue Nov 29, 2011 9:10 pm

maybe a silly question but.....i was told to keep my eye on the adjustment of my l series clutch cable which is easy enough, but the haynes manuel says 10 to 20mm pedal free play from all the way up until it starts pulling the cable which is cool , does it mean from where the pedal sits or if i lift it up, makes a bit of difference, cheers for any help

If you mean, your pedal moves up closer to you when you put your foot underneath and pull it back towards you, then I'd say you have a worn pivot point at the pedal.. in this case, I'd say just use it from it's normal rest position (once you've removed you foot). I find it easier to check from under the bonnet. I find a good 5 to 10 mm clearance on the clutch fork works perfectly.
