Replacing RS/GC8 Shifter Bushes

Post by H-top » Tue Dec 07, 2010 9:01 pm

G'day all,

I need to replace the shifter bushes in my Libbo, i'm wondering
if they are the same shifter bushes as used in GC8 WRX's?

its an Import Legacy 5 speed 4.11

Cheers,
Sam

evey shifter bush Ive ever seen for EJ gearboxes looks exactly the same, so I dont see why not, but Im sure some one will have accurate information on the subject.

Liberty, Forester and Impreza all use very similar designed but all have parts that will not interchange. Your RS uses the very first style and the bushes are quiet large. You have many choices but there are 2 easy options.. 1) Buy new bushes from Subaru (same as the Aussie RS) or 2) Change your complete shifter setup to the later style (say from an Impreza) so you can also modify if you want to make it a short shifter too? If you want to use the later model, you're going to need everything from the knuckle (on the gearbox) where it's held on buy the roll pin and also where it joins the large round mount under the knuckle, all the way up to the gearknob.

Hope this makes sense? I'd like to take some pics but sorry :( I'm away from home.
