advice needed
i think there might be a problem brewing in my gear box... iv got a 1996 liberty ski-fx lx iv had it about 4 months now, came from what appeared to be a loving family and in good condish w millage pretty high.
when i change from first to second gear with the clutch all the way in it seems to almost catch, i can feel it sorta kick up the stick. it doesn't seem to be losing power at all, and it doesn't happen in other gears. seems to go pretty smooth when i change really slowly. im just being cautious, does anyone know if this is much of a problem.

You might need to adjust the clutch cable that would need adjusting.
Be prepared for new clutch/throw out bearing soon - dunno how much longer.

thanx for the advice
i have a friend whos been a multible subi owner and mechanic he thinks that the synchro ring is worn, and a temporary solution is to top up the transmission oil, that looks like the best plan off attack at the moment rather than a limited knowledge rebuild.

Hint normal brass syncro rings rarely wear where selection is an issue,but ham fisted drivers can damage the small angled dog engagement teeth.
If necessary these can be dressed up with a small file and slow or lazy syncro's can usualy be fixed by tapeing up the steel syncro cone engagement section on the gears and having that area only glass bead finished.
Glass bead the matching section of the brass syncro cone as well.
The satin finish left by the glass bead trick works exceptionally well for sorting our crunching gear issues related to poor syncro action and is much much cheaper than replacing syncro cones.
Note even new syncro cones in any case do not work as well unless the gear section is refinished as noted above in many cases new brass cones only half fix the issue,this will sort it without the expense of factory spec replacement of both syncro cones and gears.

I have read where if you use Red Line oil in the gearbox it will do wonders when you have a crunchy gearbox
