ea82 mpfi/turbo heads

Post by twilightprotege » Thu Jan 21, 2010 6:10 pm

so from what i can gather there were generations of heads for the ea82...

1g = ea82
2g = ea82 underlined
3g = ea82 in a box

these are embossed on the heads.

does anyone have any knowledge of if the 3g's are best etc? proof?

The word they were better casts. Stronger, less (if that's possible ) prone to valve cracks.
have no solid proof though lol

yeah that's all i've read - hearsay basically. mind you, it is newer so less k's on the heads, and hopefully subaru worked out the issues and fixed them by the 3g heads. then again, would they have known the problems by the time they made the 3g heads? were there problems that quickly with the 1g and 2g heads?????

Wonder if there is still a listing for a 3G head at Subaru - dare ask?

From what I remember reading the 3rd gen heads were a replacement part not fitted as original equipment .
