Brumby front axles off ebay

Post by subybrumby » Thu Jan 21, 2010 4:31 pm

Sometime ago there was discussion on this forum about purchasing complete front axles off ebay, whether there was quality there etc.

I restored the front of my brumby back to original from a L setup and purchased two complete axles, ball joints, bearings etc off ebay because I found it convenient and thought that I would give it a go. There are a couple of different companies selling the complete front brumby axle on ebay and the price varies. I bought these ones for $95 each. (Yeah I know, get what you paid for etc etc.)

Actually I have found the axles to be okay BUT!!! there is a lot of slop where they slide onto the gearbox spline.

Now I suspect, that I will have to eventually remove these axles and replace these two inner ends with a couple that I have here. Now this p......s me off. I bought all new stuff so that I wouldn't have to do this job for a while, but there you go. I don't know how else to get out of it. At low speed, you can hear them, then as speed gets up, well who knows, but there is a slight vibration. Perhaps other more expensive ones on EBAY are ok, I don't know, but there it is.

Just providing this information for those that may be contemplating buying complete axles off ebay.
