EJ20t and EA81 Engine Weights
EJ20t and EA81 Engine Weights
Does anyone happen to know off the top of their head or at least know where to find out the weights of the ej20t and ea81 engines. I need the details for my modification approval form for the brumby but have looked around on the net and can't find what I'm after. I did find something that listed the ej20t as weighing just short of 300kg. Surely there isn't that much of a difference between an ej and ea engine. I can lift an ea engine on my own so its definitely nowhere near that heavy.
I am also chasing the laden weight (or GVM) of a 1992 Brumby.
Any help would be much appreciated as I need to have the form in before Wednesday for it to be considered at this months approvals meeting.

Redbook says Brumby GVM = 1620kg. It's probably also on the compliance plate and/or rego papers.r00fi wrote:Found this on a soob aircraft site:

May be because EJ22 is single cam & they have the weight of the twin cam EJ25, EJ20 would be almost the same as the EJ25niterida wrote:^^^^^^^^^
12kgs difference between an EJ22 and an EJ25 ?? Seems a bit much to me since they are essentially the same engine, just different bore/stroke.

Approvals meeting ! I like that, sounds cheaper than an engineer certificate! I have seen these measures before now thinking 135 pounds / 2.2 to get kilos. I weighed my EA81 long motor without carbs, manifold or other bits like flywheel and got about 60kg. 60 x 2 =120, plus another 12 or so, so yeah, looks correct to me. I like the 20 lb difference between EA81 and 82
Should go buy your EJ20t and then weigh it

Thanks for that GOD I did a search on the forum but obviously didn't look hard enough.
I'd like nothing more than to go straight out and buy the engine AndrewT but unfortunately budget constraints and a baby on the way mean I can't afford any suprises once I've started. Once I'm sure that I can get it registered it will be all go. I put the forms in yesterday so now its just a matter of waiting. There is still plenty of work on the body/cab to keep me busy.
I found out it is going to cost me over $800 just to transport a front cut from Sydney to Darwin. I wasn't expecting it to be cheap, having lived in Darwin long enough to know better, but it still hurts.

Good on ya for doing all the legwork first. Should be worthwhile when it's finished and all above board.
And just as an aside, the forum search function is rubbish. Put your search terms into Google followed by site:http://www.ausubaru.com. Works a treat.
