stuck clutch? minimal movement in any gear

Post by RogDog » Mon Aug 17, 2009 10:03 am

just bought an L series 88' dual range from wreckers and everything seems perfect except minimal movement once in gear. maybe its as simple as an extremely worn clutch plate. throwout bearing seized perhaps? there is no noise once in gear and the car does move in gear very slowly, like a metre a minute. clutch cable seems to be fine.

Yes it could be a severely worn clutch but also consider -
Is there any strange clunking etc coming from the driveline? Perhaps one of the CV joints is broken or maybe the splines in a front hub might be stripped but still grabbing just enough to provide some limited drive.
Try engaging 4x4 and seeing if it makes and difference.
