EJ22 comprression problems

Post by surfer » Sun Jul 26, 2009 2:51 pm

Im looking at my mates car which is a liberty 1990 with EJ22 motor with MPFI
It is running pretty rough and has a quite loud rattle in the motor but does not sound like the big end.
Compression on right bank is around 240psi which is pretty high and left bank is 50 on back cyl and 130psi on front one.
Does not seem to be too smoky but if you take the oil filler cap off a fair bit of smoke comes out there which seems unusual.
It is running rough and the cyl with lowest compression has spark plug all oiled up.
Has anyone had high compression around the 250psi?
any thoughts abot the problem?
