Reputable Ea82T cv shaft suppliers?

Post by aspro » Mon Nov 17, 2008 8:22 pm

Hey Folks,

Anyone have a good lead on a company that supplies cv shafts (Preferably new) for the l series rx turbo?. I've been making enquiries, tried Coventries and Australian CV joint centre but they're no longer doing them. Australian CV joint centre have offered to rebuild my existing shafts but simply sticking oversized balls does not fix wear imho.
Genuine subaru shafts are available but are in the vicinity of $730 ea

Also could someone confirm that an rx turbo cv is the correct splines on the inner and length to fit an l series wagon with a series one liberty dual range gearbox. I am pretty sure it is would be good to have someone confirm before i order it
I didnt do the conversion so my best guess as to what it is simply looking at it in situ. Right now i dont really have the time to be pulling it out to find out pulling it out to find out for certain
Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated

Cheers,

Aspro

the splines/cups being the correct ones rings a bell. theyd be 25 spline vs 23 for carby boxes. not 100% sure tho

Give Alan's CV Joint in Ozzy park a go, they've always been good for me (haven't had a single issue with one of their joints or boots). CV's are all they do.

For Lib front CV stubs you need to 25 spline cups - RX Turbo ones are 25 spline.
Count your existing ones to double check. The only other count they can be is 23.

Alan's will do either new imported CV's or reconditioned Genuine Subaru ones. In their professional opinion (again, CV's are all they do), they rekon the reconditioned Genuine Subaru ones are far superior to anything else. There is abit more involved than just replacing the balls I believe.
I take their word for it.

As a price reference, I bought two brand new Liberty RS Turbo shafts complete with inner and outer CV's ready to install for $170 each.

Allan's C.V. Joint
Osborne Park & Kardinya
