Looking for help and advice thanks:-

I have an EA82T Brumby. When you put your foot down, it throttles up but has a lag just above idle. If it is idling and you put the air con on, it falters and nearly cuts out. So it has a definite flat spot just coming off the idle. With the aircon on and hold it just up off idle it falters and falls and farts.

Now, this afternoon I was cleaning around the Charcoal Canister and when I moved the canister, the engine faltered and nearly stopped.

Could it be the charcoal canister. What should I look for. Can the canister be serviced...This is driving me nuts?? any thoughts??? Thanks

More likely a vacuum leak. If there is a cracked hose near near the canister, when you moved it, you mighta opened up the crack further and the fuel mixture leaned causing it to stumble.

I'll have a more thorough look around there tomorrow. Thanks for that. I've been gonna send it in for a tune but just looking for anything that might be obvious...well that I can't see anyway..I not clued up on fuel injected engines...

Further investigation reveals faulty wiring in the vicinity of the charcoal canister. When you wriggle the wiring harness, the fuel pump was stopping. When you hit a bump on the road, power to the fuel pump was intermittent causing the engine to falter. The pump has stopped altogether now. Seems like I have found the problem...Someone suggested it sounded like fuel issues!!

Isnt the carcoal canister near the front right of the engine bay, what part of the wiring for the fuel pump is near there?

Now that's a good question. The charcoal canister is sitting where the battery used to be in the front drivers side. There are three relays on the strut tower near it and I think the weight of the loom was pulling a plug off one of the relays. I tidied the whole lot up but now I have no fuel pump at all. Tomorrow, I am going to work my way back from the fuel pump to the firewall and try to find why I have no power to the fuel pump. Looking forward to it (not)

There are two big plug connections that join the wiring harness from the engine to the main loom. One is square and the other round. When I moved them and tidied and strapped them, I lost power for some reason to the fuel pump. When you turn the key on, I used to hear the fuel pump start and then stop, Now nothing.
