Our my99 foz has decided to increase its fuel consumption slowly over the last 10,000ks
we where getting 8-9L/100 out of town sitting on 100 fully loaded. now its down to about 11-12L. Somethings obviously wrong....
As its around town doing lots of stop/start driving 95% of the time an ecu reset might be in order i think... anyone know how???
failing that what else could it be?
o2 sensor?

Replacing the O2 sensor would certainly be the first thing I'd do. I doubt it needs an ECU reset, but the way we normally do them in WA is to leave the battery unhooked overnight, there is a quicker way I think but that's all I've ever done.

I'll give you a tip with it, douse it in CRC long before you go to undo it, give it about 3 or so coats at intervals of say, an hour.
Definitely use a ring spanner, a shifter won't do any good.

um, it actually came out really easy....
ive got 2x black wires which i am assuming are the pre-heaters and also a black wire which would be the o2 sensor output.
Correct?

Yup, that's correct. Two for the heater and one for the signal.
Every O2 sensor I've removed has been a pain. Consider yourself lucky
