Just after a few short cuts (if they exist) in cleaning the accumulated bits from the fan box and aircon ducts. Intake ducts at top of engine bay have been done, long small vacuum hose as far as I can get it and the leaves still rattle he fan. Any suggestions to make the job easier are more than welcome.
Cheers Mark

yeah the heater box / fan will have leaves & crap in it. You can drop the fan down out of the way in the passenger footwell and clean it all out

Thanks timmo

Cheers Timmo, I just found this fan above the passenger footwell today and had no idea what it was.
Looks to be a job for me aswell.

Apologies if this is considered thread hijacking but it may also be relevant to the poster seeing he is housekeeping the A/C.
Along similar lines to the subject of cleaning the A/C in Subaru's, just how hard is it to clean the fluff & crap from the evaporator in the dash?
Does it require complete removal or can it be done insitu?

L series with A/C have mesh on the fan side of the evaporator so leaves & crap are usually caught there, but without a/c the leaves can get into the heater box. If you have debris in the evaporator box though i guess you might be able to use a strong vac to suck them out from the fan end, coz to remove it would mean undoing the pipes & losing refrigerant

I had my fingers crossed against having to remove it.

thread jacking is ok by me if it helps me understand how to clean up the vents, box etc. Anyone out there with pictures of the bits pulled apart?

Undo the trim cover under glove box,3 or 4 nylon nuts. take out glove box tray, undo one of the hinges, 2 screws. unplug 2 wire plugs and 3 screws and pull the fan out. Round fan undo 1 nut, wash and blow dry. vacuum and wash vents inside and out. put fan back together and put everything else back in. 45 minutes and a beer. no more rattle and sweet clean air. Now to do a "subihack" and put a filter on intake vents to keep the f....ing pollen out.
