L Series creaking noise

My car has recently developed a constant creaking noise that is something to do with drivetrain or suspension as putting the clutch in at speed has no effect of the noise. The noise also only seems to appear after driving the car for a while. The suby in question is an 89 lseries dl 4wd wagon. We first suspected the bushes, all are now polyurethane, and have since sprayed them with silicone spray, which had no affect on the noise. Our next suspect on the list is the bearing seals. Has anyone else got any other suggestoins of what could be causing the noise? Anyoone else experienced a similar noise?
Thanks

Yes i get creaking in my susupension to,particulary after its rains .I tracked it down to the rear springs. I just give them a good spray with wd40,etc ,with particular attention to the spring seats. Problem goes away until the car gets wet again

Have you checked the axle/hub nuts at the front?
Just a thought........ they should be waay tight. don't forget to split pin them when you're finished!

Edit; also, make sure the axle nut washers are facing the correct way. IE: the concave side should face in, the convex side should face out. Later models have the OUT stamped on them.....sorry if I have insulted you.

Bearings that are gone would also give creaking/clicking noises.

I had some creaking noises down the back of my L-Series touring wagon that turned out to be from the black plastic thingamejigs that rest against either side of the rear tailgate when it's closed. The black plastic thingamejigs sit on a spring in a slide and they obviously move around slightly with body flex. Putting a bit of lube on the slide got rid of the creaks.

Thanks for the suggestions ppl but i think the noise has stopped as i havnt heard it in a while, could b my driving style and my exhuast burble though. I think it was some of the bushes creaking as that is the only thing we really touched, (sprayed about half a can of silicon spray on all the bushes).
Thanks
