2 random engine q's

Post by cooloothin » Thu Aug 16, 2007 9:08 pm

Q.1
subi wrote: i think the head gasket is still good, if it was gone there would be a ****load of steam out the exhaust and temp would be high on the road too.
So if my exhaust feels a bit moist and when she struggles in the morning or if i don't start it for a week or two, blows a few wet spots onto the concrete...
is the gasket on the way out or is that just some random 'feature' of an old car doing the best it can. Certainly having no engine related troubles with the car at all at the moment. Uses about a litre of oil every month or two, but then it's done that for a long time. REPCO's nationwide warranty 42 point check didn't pick up anything... not that it would really surprise me...

Q.2
Should there be a nut on the end of this ? Just seems a little odd to me. Never had one in my memory though.

cheers for any advice.

dave
