Sheared Torsion Bar to Chassis Rail Bolt

Has anyone else sheared this bolt? I have tried to drill out (no luck to hard for drill bits, rated 10 bolt), therefore easy outs are out. Have also tried double nutting it (read locking 2 nuts together on what is left of the thread), didn't work either, in fact started to strip the nuts, that where rated. The next step i was going to take is weld a nut on the end of the thread, or heat up what is left of the thread and try and remove.
Any other suggestions in this area would be fantastic....
What was, went to be a day job of putting the lift in is know a looking like a 2 and a bit day sarga....
And yes i did bust the back of the knuckles when it sheared.......
Thanks in Advance
Matt

I'd try heating it if you've got access to an oxy torch or something.

If you've already sheered a grade 10 bolt I wouldn't necessarily recomend welding another nut on . . . although it could work.

You sure it's too tough for a drill bit? I've used an easy-out on standard suspension stuff before - in fact I thought it was all 8.8.

I've found the welding a nut on technique works surprisingly well in most circumstances....but I think think I've tried it on rated 10 things before

If all else fails, its cut it out with the oxy time......sounds drastic...huh?
but its not a bad way to go, weld a new nut to a peice of stronger steel, and weld that in....fix up the rust while your there.....good luck.

Fred suprisingly there is no rust there to fix up. The welding of the nut idea i will try first, i figure it can't hurt it anymore and then drastic measures with an angle grinder/oxy set.... Problem is it has to be done by Thursday for QLD Transport Inspection. This particular bolt is rated 10 bolt and i have tried drilling it with minimal success. In my attemped to drill it out i have snaped 1 drill bit, rumerous blunt drill bits and in about 1mm maybe). MUDRAT the bolt i snaped was a rated 10 bolt for sure, i just checked.
Thanks for the help so far ladies and gentlemen, it much appreciated, i will see how it goes tomorrow, fingers crossed....
