There is a kit avaliable from **** smith electronics that is a dual battery controller, it swicthes between batterys depending on voltage, so you always have a fully charged battery

I got a great unit from Battery world. Is super simple to hook up, from memory all it required was a +'ve to each battery and an earth. It works out when to charge etc based on the voltage of the primary battery. I've got a box in the back of the sedan with a heavy duty +ve going to it.

Oh yeah, The Jaycar one just didn't seem to charge my second battery. It actually went to the tip yesterday with about 400kg ( guesstimate from weighbridge total ) of excess spare parts ...

I have done it. Mount it up under the front of the tray the standard hieght battery just fits. Also get a smart isolator like a REDARC one as thye will isolate automatically on low voltage, etc. Only problem is they are around $150.
