Well to recap, had dash light coming on, indicating the coolant sensor, replaced that, also replaced the dizzy cap and rotar, spark plugs and checked for vaccume leaks.

Its still doing it......almost sounds like its not firing when it does is, its under load and compression when it does it.

HELP!

have u checked the fuel system??

As in the fuel filter? NO not as yet.

i would be checking the enitre fuel system myself... eg... old fuel lines possibly letting air in... fuel filters... fuel pump.

There has been a lot of times i have had unsually problems which turned into something simple.

Fuel filters are a big thing... can be fine one minute... totally blocked the next.... and this would effect a turbo motor more than a carb motor i would expect.

Yeah will check that tomorrow, the ECS light still appears but not long enough now to get a code like when i had the coolant sensor prob.

Could bad leads be causing it also?

definately check the leads and fuel filter....

a few months ago my car started missing, no power, running on 3 cylinders etc, so i replaced all the leads, problem solved. Then about two weeks ago, the car was coughing and backfiring, it would get to 3000rpm and just die and stall..replaced the fuel filter, and that problem was fixed...

OK Done fuel filter, replaced with smaller standard basis style, still has problem. hmmmm.

Are you running a good coil? Have you increased the boost?
If you have replaced the leads, try reducing the spark plug gap a little.

Could also be injector related, maybe a bottle of fuel system cleaner, or take them out and get them cleaned.

Finally, I hate to say it but, give it a compression test.

jimmy it could be and injector or the coil, i would check the fuel pump 2 i nver had the prob when i had ther car??

Well doing the leads today, checked the fuel pump when I did the fuel filter. Havnt incresed boost or anything like that. The problem was there before the plugs were replaced also.

If leads dont help, might look at coil next. It almost feels when it does it that its not firing.

Well put leads in, prob still there, less frequent but still there, bugger!

You have changed the plugs? I had a similar problem about a month ago and thought i got some bad fuel so i changed filters etc and no difference i put a set of plugs in it and problem solved

What should the plugs be gapped at for best performance?

0.7 / 0.8 i think but i just used the spare set of irridiums i had for my WRX and never checked the gap as i beleive it is the same , anyway car runs fine

my next attack would be the injectors jimmy i gave brad a heap of parts when he bought the car and there should have been some injectors in that stuff if you got it with the car, the injectors that are in there are one a had cleaned which would have been2 years ago??

i may have some injectors here will have a look

Yeah got the stuff, dont think any injectors in it though, has been running fine for 2 days then jus went for run to get smokes and bam! did it again, bugger.

If you have some injectors, please let me know.
