I have nothing that may help... all i can say is i had a similar problem with an EA81 motor... thrust bearing was seized on... Tied the car to a tree... and the gear box to the hatch... and still wouldn't come out... Ended up having to remove the motor with it.... winched the box up with a hoist and belted the engine off the a malet... i wouldn't do it this way if u want to keep the motor though.

behind the starter motor is an allen key plug ,take it out and inside is a shaft holding the clutch fork etc You will need a timing cover bolt to screw into the shaft to pull it out and your problem is solved

AHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Sorry, had to laugh. Happened to me too when I first attempted a clutch change.
The pin holds the clutch fork, the clutch fork holds the thrust bearing, the thrust bearing holds the pressure plate which is bolted to the motor.

This little bit of info is also the one that caused all the trouble with a certain MY99 gearbox removal....you remember....the one with all the sparks and stuff
Got me aswell years ago first time I'd ever worked on an EJ (also an MY99 wrx).

Happens to every one when they are new to turbo boxes. You don't forget it though.
