Sudden increase in fuel consumption

My has recently began to consume more fuel. And it seems not to come from driving, but from being parked for a while.
So i park my car, then come back to it in two to three days, and the fuel gauge shows much less petrol than before.
Car is parked at home. There is no smell of petrol so i dont think its a leak. Any ideas?

It may be the fuel gauge that is faulty . are you getting roughly the same k's from a tank when you fill up.

I had a leak in my wagon at one stage that was just like that. there were a couple of pin holes just above the seam of the fuel tank - it was evaporating long before leaving a trail.

IF you are using more and the car is not using it it must be getting relocated to another place my a 3rd party

Could try blocking the evap line comming from the tank and see if pressure builds in the tank after leaving it for a day. No pressure surely would mean a leak in the system some place.... possibly fuel cap not sealing.. etc etc.

Try o2 senser or air flow meter two common problems. especially if it degraded quickly. Also try changing plugs and if it has a cat convertor check if it is blocked

I had this same problem with a Kombi a number of years back. Ended up being a pretty easy fix..........
I fitted a lockable fuel cap!
