filter before fuel pump ?
filter before fuel pump ?
Firstly does anyone really bother with a filter before the fuel pump ?
And if so what recommendations? I am guessing its not the usual EFI inline type filter, because that is designed for fuel to go through it under pressure..................

gave the fuel tank an inspection today, from the cargo area, lifted the fuel sender plate, 5 nuts, real easy.
There were a few traces of rust particles, but on the whole the tank from what I could see looked nicely painted? grey inside. and yeah looks like theres a fuel strainer at the fuel outlet to stop .....so maybe won't bother with another filter, like apparently you guys
the silence.......
PS; I picked out the rust traces with a magnet.

If you're using an L series type EFI pump, there should be a gauze filter on the end where the tank feed line is, but VL types don't as the VL has a filter on the tank end of this line.

can I ask exactly what filter you got? Z part no etc??have a standard fuel line filter just before the efi pump
I've decided I want one with 1/2" in/out, but haven't found any with direct hose fitting at various retailers, are these really becoming uncommon at 1/2"?
There seem to be a few that need barbed fittings..if I go with
that, will then also need to get the fittings from Pirtek/Enzed, and $30-$40 probably too

shit fuel in aus.
from my experiance u definatly need one before the efi pump. I had my tank out of the car completly cleaned and when back together car only done 10000k`s since brand new filter put on and was having problems with primary pump keeping up to demand thought it was stuffed but checked filter before spending money on new pump and it was so blocked i couldn`t even blow through it and I only use optimax fuel. So if you dont want all the shit going into the efi pump and more expensive efi filter its worth it.
