nope. pull the battery off and plug the column harness together, note the wires that run though the plug, one or two will not match up. 'IF' I get time I'll pop by on my way out to mums and have a squiz.

Hey Bill

Did you have any luck with those diagrams.

That clicking is the headlight relays under the dash.

Im thinking that there is a mix-match of connectors

Now, apon looking at the diagram, it appears that there should always be 12v at the lights, and it is the negative side of the light that is grounded by the headlight switch.

Ok, therefore,.. The white/black wire that comes from the green fusable link goes to the relays under the dash.... from the relays, a black/red and a black/yellow wire (one from each realy) go to the fuse box and fuses 7 and 8 respectively.... From the fuses, a red/blue wire and a red wire go to the common terminal of the lights.

There is only power at this common treminal when the ignition is on. so if there is power when the ignition is off, there is a problem in the control circuit of the relays.

But the lights should only come on when they are grounded by the lights switch. So its probably a mismatch of connectors

Hope this makes sense, ask any question and i will be happy to anwser it.

from memory when i tracecd the black/white from the green fuseable link it went straight to the fues box and was connected to the lower side of the left headlight fuse. it did not go to a relay
and the right headlight fuse had no wire at all on the lower side of the fuse box

Dont give up mate

There has to be somebody close by that could lend a hand

I rekon that your problem could be as simple as a connector mismatch

Best of luck
