Strange clicking noise

Hey i need some help here i have a clicking/klacking noise and it sound like its comming from the cylinder unit next to the alt, on an EA82 l series 91 model

im not exactly sure that this is where the noise it auctually comming from but it sounds like it couldnt be much else, any one know wat it going on here?

That's the air conditioning compressor - does the noise only happen when the A/C is turned on?

no a/c off it happens all the time, i had the car ideling as the car hadnt been used for about a a week, then about 5 or 10 mins into it it just developed that noise

EDIT: So im guessing that isnt the offender if its turned off then, is there anythign else that can just develop a nice clanking noise around that area

Might be tappet noise, in which case it'll be coming from the cam box underneath the air conditioner compressor.

yeah i think your right, i took the spair wheel out and it does sound abit lower then the compressor, so what is involved in the tappet noise? change tappet covers or something more serious, and can i cause more damage by running it with the click/ticking noice? as i have work and tafe to attend?
