the gas has to be let out....should be taken out by an a/c place then it just unbolts off the motor....you may need a smaller belt but as there is so many belts you may have to messure it

Are u wanting to keep your air con Lapsed.... im pretty sure there are MANY ea82 air con compressors sitting in sheds around Perth. Put an add in the wanted section or in the WA section. I don't see anyone wanting much for one.

I thought EA82's had separate belts for the A/C and for the alternator? Ripping out the compressor shouldn't effect anything.
SuBaRiNo mentioned replacing it - maybe a good idea for resale?

Even when aircon is good in the old girls, they only still exist by name! The fans are so poor then just cant keep up with the heat. id rip the sucker out ;)

i turns out it was not the compressor but the bearings in the tensioner pulley for the AC shattered and sezied up. and you cannot remove the compressor as it supports the alternator brackets

it can be removed .. you just have to unbolt the bracket that goes on top of it from the compressor and put it back in. its a bit strange looking but it will fit with the alternator still sitting out as if an aircon should be there

Speaking of the useless fans

"The fans are so poor then just cant keep up with the heat" 4MUFF

Has anyone ever looked at exchanging them out with something else? Everyone I speak to complains about them.
