has anyone eva had this happen. my lhf hub keeps coming loose after about 5000km the thread and nut are ok and ive been doing it up with a rattle gun and fitting new split pin every time but it still some how works it way loose. any suggestions. cheers

Try replacing the cone washer. It's probably deformed slighty, mine was and I had a similar problem.

Also try using a breaker bar with a 1.5m extension, jumping up and down on the end if it. That fixed it for me

It will be your cone washer using the really big lever just buys you some time but its way easier to get an new cone washer and fit it.

I agree.... replace your cone washer and dont use a rattle gun to do it up, use a decent breaker bar with a nice long extension, I cant remember what the torque setting is for those hub nuts but is it a bloody lot.

can you get the part non-genuine or are they subaru only.

I have not purchased one for a few years but last time i brought them for about $4ea

they cost me $7 form my local suby dealer for a brumby

which reminds me, I recently read in a service manual , for front wheel nuts the 196Nm or whatever is to be followed up by up to 30 degrees more for split pin alignment - so I suppose that is about a 1.5 metre long bar with a 80 kilo man on the end - almost busting his pooper valve !

The measurement I had was 160ft/lb ie: 80kg person standing on 1 foot long breaker bar (guess how I do it )
