Got a 92 Liberty GX with a noisy speedo, has anyone had this problem? Is it just the cable? Or something more expensive.

Frequency increases with road speed, It's a squeaky noise.

I'm about to put a new heater core in this car, so I want to tackle the noise while I'm in there.

remove the speedo cable, then remove the cable from its sheath, clean and relubricate. You dont need to have the dash out, just remove the instrument cluster.

I used vasoline on mine and its been quiet for 3yrs now..

Thanks for that, I'll do it this weekend, it's driving me crazy.

All fixed, as well as a new heater core and CD player
