Had car for 7 years and oil has dumped into air filter, maybe a 100ml or so on about 4random occasions, does this sound like a sticky PVC valve?

G'day, yes, very likely. You can remove it and give it a clean. See if that helps.

or blow by ? Could be a number of things. By the time I get to many EA82 they have totally blocked PCV hoses and outlet/inlets of the rocker covers, gunked crusty PCV.
I have used a catch can on one EA81, redirecting fumes to can before air box - confined the oil distribution to inside crankcase
Is there also a small textile breather filter in the air filter box side that the PCV hoses need?

Thanks, I,ll do both the filter and PVC clean, and have a look at tap pet cover breathers

The PCV is a likely cause as could be blocked breather pipes or as with most older motors blow by

as Jonno suggested a catch can can make a difference. as well check that your positive crankcase ventilation aka breather hoses are hooked up properly I do know that if they are not hooked up properly youe engine will push oil into the air cleaner.
you can get a new PCV from ebay

As with most parts from the USA the part itself is cheap but shipping kills the shopping buzz.
or try

Very common problem on the older carby models.. main reason this happens is the air filter is getting dirty and starting to reduce the amount of air the engine requires to run at higher rpm. At higher rpm the engine will draw air from anywhere it can and breathers are right there, so by fitting a catch can, you will stop the oil collecting in the air filter housing but you're just masking up the real issue.
My suggestion would be to buy a new air filter before spending money on other parts.

your dead right the previse times this has happen the air cleaner was dirty, and I had a filter in the shed this time to put in it but thought I do this one more dirt road trip...at higher load (rev), then fit it. I recon that's it....I will how ever for he sake of it do the other stuff as well. thanks
