EJ22 running rough

On the canister behind the right headlight there is a small valve on the smaller hose to the engine.....what would be the effect if the valve was taken out.

Air flow meter? Coils, ignition leads or spark plugs?

Check ignition stuff first. It's usually whats wrong and its the easiest. Plugs and leads first.

Cheers,

Lots of things can cause the engine to run rough. I'd grab a copy of the WSM and this will show you the points to check for.. i.e Spark Plug Lead resistance, Compression readings, Fuel pressures and so on. I think we can all give you some good ideas to check but you could be chasing your tail, by following the WSM, it will take you through the correct steps to diagnose.
You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.
