EJ25t intermittent start problems

I've an EJ25t in my Gen 2 Liberty wagon that has an intermittent (but becoming more constant) issue with failure to start when the engine is warm.
Most mornings, or after work in the evening the car starts fine and the car drives really well with no issues.
When the car is warmed up, say if i've driven to the shops or to get fuel, then the car often won't start. It's starting to do my head in.
Symptoms-
1. Engine cranks over and catches, but only runs for about a second or so.
2. Will do this two or three times, then will only crank and not catch.
3. I leave the car for a period of between 5 and 15 minutes, and the engine turns over and off i go like there was never a problem.
I'm suspecting fuel pump, or a related fuel issue. Internet diagnostics suggest this is not unheard of in other Subaru's- with suggested fixes ranging from fuel pump, ignition module, crank position sensor to cam angle sensor...
Can anybody shed some light on this, or let me know how they have overcome a similar problem?
Thanks guys.
