EJ25t intermittent start problems

I've an EJ25t in my Gen 2 Liberty wagon that has an intermittent (but becoming more constant) issue with failure to start when the engine is warm.

Most mornings, or after work in the evening the car starts fine and the car drives really well with no issues.

When the car is warmed up, say if i've driven to the shops or to get fuel, then the car often won't start. It's starting to do my head in.

Symptoms-

1. Engine cranks over and catches, but only runs for about a second or so.
2. Will do this two or three times, then will only crank and not catch.
3. I leave the car for a period of between 5 and 15 minutes, and the engine turns over and off i go like there was never a problem.

I'm suspecting fuel pump, or a related fuel issue. Internet diagnostics suggest this is not unheard of in other Subaru's- with suggested fixes ranging from fuel pump, ignition module, crank position sensor to cam angle sensor...

Can anybody shed some light on this, or let me know how they have overcome a similar problem?

Thanks guys.

Is this the Jayd i know? Is this the car i looked at mate?
Im happy to have another play with it... can try the scan tool on it again and see if there is any new codes.

Is it a fault we are likely to be able to simulate?

When are you free? You can have it as long as you want it...

Was thinking of calling you, but didn't want to keep bothering you everytime. But since you offered.

You still have my number? I'm happy to give you a call tomorrow ifm thats easier.

Kind regards

I suspect fuel pump too, esp in that it fires next time round then dies, as it sounds like it will restart on the remaining pressure from previous running then dies once that pressure gone. Also reads like characteristics of FP doing a slow death

My guess.. Fuel pump relay.
We can test for most problems in about 5 minutes but we need it to play up infront of me. Sent u an SMS big guy.
