ive got heaps of pressure in my cooling system and coolant appearing in the right rocker cover so im definant that its the head gasket i was wondering if its easier to leave the engine in the car or take it out do the heads crack in them or will i be able to just throw a head gasket kit in it. im going to rebuild a new one from scratch but that will take time so i just need to do for the time been. Any help would be great

anyone that looks at this is gonna say its the welsh plugs in the head that leaks water into the rocker area that gives this symptom. I lifted the motor out to replace these but I'm sure others have done 'em in place. see if you can find a wonder product to seal temporarily while you rebuild another donk. I had success with Silverseal on my radiator joints during the week. there is also Sealtabs http://www.workin4u.com/seallock [email protected]

If its welsh plugs it can be done in place by removing a rubber plug from the wheel arch.

Hi mate if its the welch plugs then as the Baron has said you can do them in the car through the chasiss holes .
If you need to do the heads you can do them in the car, its time consuming compaired to taking out the motor and doing the heads.
Ive done quite a few in the car, the problem area is if its the passenger side head and youve got air con. and when you torque the heads the middle bolt requires a cut down socket to apply tension. But all the hard work can be done through the holes. The worst time it took for me was 2 days to do 2 heads im a fan of if you fix one then do the other it the same time.
I you want a temp fix while you sort out what to do then use
'Metalic seal up' you can get it from REPCO its about $8.00
Sealup will not clog radiators or anything other than the hole it just fills the hole with powdered metal in solution .
People poo poo these products and ive had to clean up some shocking messes from some products, but this is a good product that was recomended by a head recon company i used.
I just repaired the head on my gassed EB ford after i put this product in 5 years ago so that was a good run.

yeh Chem-i-Weld or the metallic seal (which is the newer versioni think) works good. ive used that on mine and been good so far for about 6 months. a mechanic said it can last a month or like 5 years. its a good cheap fix in my books
