WTF, not on the floor... not under the dash... not connected to any wiring...

just ripped apart the entire front end of the 2000 forester and collected all the wires and plugs, no cutting, and anything that was plugged in that could be left plugged in an unbloted instead was...

have the ECU IMM, Cruise unit, Air bag unit, keyless unit, fuse holders, relays, diagnosis plugs etc...

started it up drove it onto a truck, got home, drove it off the truck, jacked it up, ripped it apart...

i have 7 days left to do my conversion and i'm stuck lol...

not funny really just F'N annoying

anyone.... help... please...

cheers

On the footwell of the passenger side. Its under a metal plate on the angled front part from memory.

nope... no metal plates and no wires going there...

wires on the drivers side running along towards the rear but i gather thats just the rear loom for lights etc

according to my FSM collection it will be in the back on the right hand side under a panel

this should help

http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/Fo ... %20Manual/

If it isn't there then it is up under the dash on the passenger side.

passenger side under the dash (behind the glove box?)

hope thats right :)

EDIT: RSR555 says "under left hand front wheel well under the passangers feet" currently websense is blocking his participation at work :(

the entire dash is out, so not behind the glove box... not in the footwell...

ok i'll rip out the front seats (using them anyways) and pull up the carpet n check under the front seats and rear footwell...

cheers... i'll post pics for future reference

i even ripped up the sound insulation stuff...

and as i said i have followed all wires that come through the fire wall and only unplugged what i couldnt unbolt n leave attached...

the engine is strange compared to any ej ive seen... ej202

there seems to be no shielded wires (like sensor wire sets to the ecu) in the bulk harness???

just resently wired up an ej22 ecu and all the sensor wires are sheilded throught the bulk harness and engine harness...

its a freak...

If it is a 2000 model NA then the ecu is mounted on the drivers side head at the rear of the engine

aluminium mould with a plastic backing and just 2 square plugs???

if so your the man jeff...

looked suss... but just assumed it was part of the cruise control or emissions crap...

i gather this will mean less wires i have to deal with comming from the ecu into the body...

cheers

P.S. will add pics here for interested parties in the morning...

Wow, thanks now I know if I ever need to know for my Foz

What's this then?

That's a 1999 Foz EJ20 harness, and it has that box on the back of the RH head, as well as this conventional ECU (?). I assumed the thing on the engine was just a junction box of sorts.

In a cardboard box under the bench in my shed:p. Sorry, I didn't pull the car apart, so can't tell you much. It's within about a foot of the test mode connectors (green pair and black pair), which is in the vicinity of the ignition barrel.

Numbers on it are:
SM
31711 AE250
A64-000 D4Z

This gear came out of a car with an auto transmission, if that makes a difference.
