MY boot struts dont hold up

Gday, as per title my MY soobie's boot struts dont hold up the door anymore.
i take it they're stuffed, top seal would be leaking hence it dies. So instead of getting them regassed every year and since around here MY series parts are virtually non existant, id opt for struts which are more common... so my stupid question is, would L series struts fit in?
Cheers

give them a good pull when the boots open and bend the strut out. That will keep them up.
dunno if l-sereis fit, but theyre expensive to replace for new ones.

There are plenty of other struts that will fit or can be modified to fit. Just take your strut to a wreckers and compare. Dont pay the wreckers price , just compare then go find a wreck in the news paper and you will get it cheaper.
Also you can take a 1/2 inch piece of pvc pipe , measure the length of the strut rod extended. Cut the pipe to length, then cut one side of the tube length ways end to end.
Push the pipe on to the strut. when you lift the tail gate open you move the tube into the rod. when you close you slide the tube over to strut canister. It sounds werid but i used this areangment for years on ford wagons and subarus. you only have to do one strut. The idea of the cutting of one side of the tube is so that it wil release if you close the tail gate accidently while you still have the tube in place.
