Overheating Problems

Hey all, my first time posting on these forums so forgive me if i posted in the wrong place.

To my question.

I have recently started working on an '85 subaru brumby that i bought off my girlfriends dad. My girlfriend also has a brumby. He origionaly bought the ute that im working on for parts for that.

The ute im working on does run fine. The problem is that it keeps over heating, not necessarily quickly but eventually it does.

we have a subaru station wagon 1984 for parts for the brumby ute that im working on.

We (me and my girlfriends dad) have;
  • Changed the radiator from the swagon
  • changed all radiator hoses
  • removed the thermostat (it actually runs cooler without it)
  • changed over the water pump
Still to no prevail.

Now for some reason the car sits on about halfway when the heater is on and when its turned off the car temp rises on up again.

My girlfreinds dad knows more about this stuff then me im just "assisting" and learning at the same time, im on here looking for idears of what might be causing the problem.

More information

-The car that i bought for spare parts never had overheating problems, thats why we took the radiator out of it to try that.
-The car (as far as both of us can tell) is running pretty well apart from this problem.
-The breaks arent sticking and the engine isnt havening to work any harder then it should, as i said above its running fine.
-The air filter is currently not on the carby so its not a lack of air getting into it.

Any information would be helpfull
sorry for the wall of words, just thought i should explain it as detailed as i could

Thanks guys very much

I'm no expert but it could be the headgasket, because I kinda had the same problem and a few people told me it could be that, hopefully its not the gasket but get that checked if you can.

First off check that there are no bubbles of air coming from the coolant in the radiator. If you do have this it means a head gasket is leaking into the cooling system. Also check out the condition of the water pump.

If the motor is good in the touring wagon why not swap that into the brumby? The power steering and air con can also be swapped over if you want these in the ute...

Cheers

UPDATE

The heating probs has been fixed i think. Its hard to properly say without driving it on the road (its un registerd at the mo so just driving around the paddocs/yard for the moment)

put this in it drove it for an hour and after the hour let it idle for a bit and it didnt over heat, so fingers crossed that its fixed :)
