old dog learning new tricks

Post by T'subaru » Sun Dec 13, 2009 9:50 am

I haven't worked with subaru ecu's before and decided its time to learn. Im using subaru's '89 ea82 factory service manual on my 89 RX, pdf actually, and have a question. Im going thru their service info on mpfi fuel systems. I tested the afm and everything is to spec except the "b" ground wire on the afm plug. I have 19.1 ohms instead of 10 ohms max. I have good ground on the intake and engine to body and good continuity to terminal 5 on my 4 plug ecu. At this point Im out of smarts...but think possibly something with this wire as far as corrosion and such may increase its resistance, or its in the ecu. Any input on experienced approaches would be appreciated as im sure there will be more.
cheers

It may not be a bad idea to check the looms earthing points , the WSM shows you where they are .

Thanks Disco, I will have to persue schematics for the body as all i have is engine. My wsm says check intake earthing, condition of harness and internals of ecu. I show no splices, earthing etc on this harness from afm to ecu.
