yesterday i started my gen1 liberty, at about 330 in the arvo it had been sitting in very very very hot sun all day, i drove it for probably 10 or so k's and then turned it off and went inside, i came back out an hour later and started it up and the battery indicatior and the park brake indicatior and the exclamation mark ((!)) were all on i'm thinking its just a wiring problem maybe caused due to the heat, can anybody confirm this or say what it might be?

thankyou

I've had this happen, minus the hot day, because of the alternator not charging. Hope this helps.

If it gets really hot, a battery can have a higher self discharge rate (wheras a cold battery will hold less charge overall, but lose it at a lower rate - or something like that). So that, coupled with a short drive that probably wouldn't have replaced the power used to start the engine, might have the battery low enough to have lights come on.

Having said that, I'd check the alternator first. And the battery water, too.

This happened to me when my L's alternator died...
