Identify this gearbox

Post by H-top » Sat Aug 22, 2009 9:16 am

I bought a vortex gearbox recently. All the company knows about it is that it came from a vortex.
I want to know how i can tell if it's selective four wheel drive or fulltime?

If it got more than one selector lever I'd say it is selectable 4WD as in FWD until you select the rear wheels in (important that it has a rear output for this:) ) Wonder if they have the VIN and if that would help.

If it's an AWD one it will have the actuator bolted on one side and a cable running to a linkage on the drivers side down low towards the rear if its extension housing .

I have one of these in the cave at home and can have a look/check sticker number tomorrow afternoon .

Cheers A .

PS from memory behind the exhaust hanger bracket there is a three eared cover plate on the back of the lower extension housing .
