confirming what tony says. normal right hand thread, 22mm socket generall fits the bolt head and a 450mm or 600 mm breaker bar with the handle set up on the lhs of the car. I shove it through the tow hook to hold it in place. WARNING is just a click of the starter will do and remove radiator first to prevent any accident and kill ignition. do it in neutral

Use a rattle hammer gun if you have one or access to.. thats the safest way of undoing it.

Not sure if the EAs have access to the fly wheel through the bellhousing or not? Check for a little removable plastic cap near the engine-transmission join - it might only be on the ej series... I shoved a big ol screwdriver in there which my dad held in place with a crowbar. This stoped the crankshaft from spinning and I used a 3m breaker bar (peice of steel tubing i found behind mitre 10
). But my engine was out at the time...

Seriously if you can get a rattle gun. To give you and idea, I have an EA82 and the bellhousing hole in the gearbox.
I jammed it with a flat blade screw driver and had all of my weight on the spanner pushing down - i was literally balancing on it and i had to push down whilst balancing.
It did crack in the end, but it took a heap of force to do it.
