I need to install some new rear tailgate compressors - sick of the gate falling down!
Are there aftermarket jobbies or do I need to buy ther real thing?
Thanks,

Ya mean the struts?
Try
STRUT RE-GAS. I personally know the owner of this company, he is a good man and depending on your location should be able to assist.

I went through this exercise about 12 months ago. I think it was possible to get aftermarket replacements for the standard L-Series wagons, but in my case with the high-roof Touring Wagon there was nothing avaialble aftermarket. The aftermarket units for the standard L-Series were made by Monroe from memory, I have no idea how good they are though.
Replacements from Subaru were really expensive, so I ended up just getting mine regassed. Cost was minimal, and they're still working brilliantly after 12 months, although my wife has difficulty actually pulling the tailgate down to close it now 8O I went through Strut-Regas here in Adelaide also, guy was really good.

we don't have this company in WA.
However a local co. does an exchange service.
Does $77 sound like a reasonable cost for the pair?

great & thanks for you assistance.
I'm off for soem replacement struts.
No more racing to catch the tailgate or wondering if it will drop while i'm getting the shopping out - my wife won;t do it becuase of the "Danger".
It's eben a while since I visited tehis board, seem to have lost my username & password. The mods have moved the site around a few times since I initially started.

Oh we haven't moved by choice!!! Our server went bankrupt without warning (Ipaska - maybe you heard about that fiasco?) and we were shut down without notice. We've lost everything, all our old posts and the tech manual we made, all gone.

I meant the operators/mods/contributors.
Having IT & Web experience it is a not at thought to trust entirely on the host to cough up in event of failure.
Anyway what is done is done, I don't want to start up the frustration again.
When did this happen anyway <he said curiously>

BYB-01's registration date should be about 2 weeks after the crash.
