Brumby Brake Caliper Overhaul

Hi everyone.

Has anyone completed the overhaul of the front disc brake calipers (Cups, seals etc) on a brumby. I'm trying to save a bit of money and besides would be interested in doing it myself. The workshop manual details it fairly well and I suppose there would be a kit available for the job.

What sort of problems could I encounter. I have renewed brakes before when I was an apprentice mechanic years ago but not disc brakes internals. I know I could get them renewed at a brake joint but if it is fairly straight forward, I would rather do it myself.

Well I bit the bullet and just finished pulling the guts out of the calliper. Not too complicated, but I am not looking forward to trying to depress the inside rod whilst I try and reinstall the handbrake shaft. The boot around the piston was shot. The inside doesn't look too bad. Basically just a few "O" rings. Will do the other side too now that I've come this far.

Does anyone know where the best place to get the repair kit would be from?? Genuine might be a bit dear.

thanks

Any local brake and clutch shop should be able to get a couple of kits in for you.

Thanks busdriver. Yes, went into one in Toowoomba today and they ordered them straight from Brisbane, got here this afternoon at 3pm. $15 a side. Thought that was pretty good.
