ques. for radio techs

Hi got a quick ques regards my mothers need to recieve AM radio on her car. With the car running its almost impossible to make any sense of the AM radio but when the car is off AM is clear. Im a bit of a pumpkinhead with radios is there anything she can do....... I have a memory of ballast resistors but Im in the dark.

your getting some noise from your alternator
try checking all your grounds
and/or get a automotive power filter from jaycar electronics
for like $20

Second that the filter is the best option these days... The ballist resistor can help but the filter is better.

yep a noise suppressor (filter) is cheap and easy to fit. definately better option.
