Here's a new one: Wire Mod + Open 2ndary = Oil light

Since putting the rubasu engine in the white wagon I've had intermittent flashing of the oil light, never figured out the pattern, didn't happen very often, maybe once or twice a week.
Yesterday I got sick of not having a choke, running rough as guts and generally being a pain in the arse so I put my tweaked carb (jetted, wire mod) on from my old motor.
Now the instant I open the secondaries, even just a fraction, the oil pressure light comes on, and stays on till the secondaries close.
Any theories on this one?
Cheers,
Jordan.

you havent got an oil pressure sender in there someware instead of an oil pressure switch
if so the light would come on at high oil pressure eg. when you lay the boot in.

earth the motor to the body (or gearbox to the body)

the best way to check oil pressure is with a real gauge then try and work out what the light is trying to tell you
the gauge or idiot light sender unit inspection is a good point
once drove an EA Foulcan that used to have an oil pressure light that would glimmer pushing up hills with compilmentary big end noise, fair enough, it had 300,000 on it, but fixed the glimmer after fitting extractors, still had the knock, motor went on to 990,000 before it was um, written off, in a front and rear ender.
good excuse to try a freer flowing exhaust !!

The wire going to the oil sender isn't caught somewhere or the insulation rubbed through and is shorting somehow when the secondaries open bringing up the warning light.

Well it seems to be sorted.
I never got a chance to look at it but I made sure when I was putting it all together that there was nothing interfering.
I think it was some sort of blockage, couple of days ago the oil late came on solid for 20 seconds no matter what i did, then flickered and has come back since no matter ho much load it is or isn't under.
The oil pump seals look pretty sad so I think this weekend I'll rebuild the oil pump and give it a general service.
Cheers for the suggestions fellas, very much appreciated.
