Squishy pedal after L rear disc conversion

Post by Ben » Tue Oct 11, 2005 9:06 pm

Just finished putting the new lines on the car, bled the brakes on all four wheels, now the pedal goes all the way to the floor with very little braking effect. When I push it hard right at the end of travel it is locking up the tyres.....

Did I miss something with the conversion?????

When you had the rear lines disconnected did your resivior run dry?

Have you tried bleeding the master cylinder?

If you haven't and theres air there you'll have to rebleed the entire sytem.

Had to do this when I replaced my torsion bar.

I don't know about this rear bias valve - was reading the USMB last night and it seems that the drums run the same line pressure as the discs so no difference in valving....

Will rebleed today and see if I can get it right. Supposed to be driving 200k's to a camping spot too today.....

must be bleed in sequence...... what year is the car ? I`ll look the sequence up.

I think for my car its LR LF RR RF.

My pedal was rock solid after rear disc installation.... very much improved feel over drums.

300k's later, the brakes are sweet as - can lock all 4 at 100 on a wet road now :)

After doing a rear disc conversion to my L wagon, with the big tyres on i could lock all the wheels if i stood real hard on the pedal, but the notice in pedal response was immediate after the swap.

Can't really comment on the pedal before/after as the fluid that came out was very evil looking.... Wouldn't surprise me if there was engine oil in there somewhere looking and smelling it....

Certainly work great now!!
