EJ20 in 97 Forester misfiring

Post by gafsubi » Sun Feb 15, 2009 1:16 pm

My 97 Forester's misfiring in the 2800-3000rpm range. Gets flat spots but clear after that. Starts and runs fine everywhere else.
It's recently been serviced with new plugs, leads and fuel filter but.....
Had been running on 90 RON but now on at least 95 RON, 98 when I can get it.

all suggestions welcome...within reason.

cheers

check for the codes and disconnect the battery overnight and see if you still have the problems. Sometimes it can be an ECM glitch..

Could be coil as Matt mentioned also check the plugs are correct for your car (i know it sounds simple)

Also is it braking down under load at that rev range? or all the time?

should have been more specific guys, it's only doing it under load. Very smooth all the way up when free revving.

Will be looking into all of it this weekend.
thanks to all so far. I'll keep you posted.

Under load, should have said that to start with, sorry. It's free revving all the way up when not under load, doesn't miss a beat.
