Hi just a fast question regarding drive shafts on l-series wagons. I m trying to fit a good shaft from a carb wagon to an efi wagon and they just dont want to slide onto the gearbox output shaft. I know the turbo sedans had different size splines do the efi wagons have a different size spline to a carb model.
cheers

you are ringing a bell here, and there may be a difference between auto and manual. I am certain the turbo auto splines are the same as normal - 23 splines instead of 25 for turbo manual. I guess a good count will help. I believe you count the mountain tops on the shaft on the box to get the number - so need to count the valley bottoms on the CV shafts DOJ - box end. If I am wrong please anybody feel free to correct me.
Is someone trying tp say that the efi grunts as well as the turbo - or just being on the safe side?

EFI & Turbo = 25 spline (same count as EJ ones too)
Carby = 23 spline (same count as rear diff too)

it's quite a quick and easy job to swap the inner CV. Just get one the correct spline and swap it onto the driveshaft, it will work.

easy, but really messy, what with that black / grey grease all over the shop. Might as well add that the L series carb inner CV jont splines is also same as EA81 MY and Brumby stuff
