Decal removal
Decal removal
theres no other relevant section so its in here.
question is: Is there a way to remove the factory decals ie the sportswagon stickers on my car, without it messing up the paint work. it seems like they are under the clear coat or somthing and not able to come off without sanding. any further info on these? mine are really faded and disgusting- makes the car look bad.

Ive done that to several cars now.. mate its not worth it - 85% of the time either it pulls paint off and/or there is different colours of paint because it has faded over the years or gotten darken due sticker.

the best way is using a rubber wheel that goes on your drill...it is for just this job and can be gotten at most smash repair shops that sell to the public....i only ever use this wheel and have even given it to jordan...AKA baron vonchickenpants to use..it will not damage the paint at all and will remove andy sticker within seconds.....trust me it works and once you use it you will never remove a sticker any other way
most people reffer to them as a 'caramel wheel' so just ask for that at your local automotive paint supplierchubby37 wrote:the best way is using a rubber wheel that goes on your drill...it is for just this job and can be gotten at most smash repair shops that sell to the public....i only ever use this wheel and have even given it to jordan...AKA baron vonchickenpants to use..it will not damage the paint at all and will remove andy sticker within seconds.....trust me it works and once you use it you will never remove a sticker any other way

Yeah definately not fun to take these sods off....they are stuck on dang'd hard. I recon the paint would fall off a sube well before these suckers come off on their own! When I was cleaning up my wagon before its respray I spent a whole day taking these off. I used a heat gun to soften them then used a sharp razor blade and real slow n careful cut em off. But I wouldnt attempt this unless you are repainting her. I nicked the paint a few times, but undercoat and a sand soon fixed that for me.Subafury wrote:theres no other relevant section so its in here.

Go for a quick outter coat only respray on her...you wont regret it....!

Best of luck with what ever you do, all the same....

I took off the pin stripes down the sides of my lib, the colour was more faded underneath...? Anhoo, they have now matched up to the rest of the duco. But I can't say they decals were under a clear coating nor were they big enough to even leave a faded mark. Take em off, however... Then just keep a nice 'unclear' coat of mud, or dust
