EA82T problems

just had the timing, and service done on my EA82T after its full rebuild(mains,big ends,pistons etc etc). Now its running really well but its just started a new problem. It starts fine and it goes along great for a short while then its splutters under acceleration to the point if i totaly floor it its like i turned the ignition off. I let off the gas and it ticks over fine and it mite let me accelerate or it mite splutter and die.

Any ideas? its also had new injectors,plugs,leads,oxy senser.

it almost feels like i lose power(battery) but when u let off it always ticks over great. It was fine before it had the timing and service done.

i have a big trip planed to fraser island in two weeks and i am starting to panic that i am not going to be able to go..

any help, ideas i can try would be great..

for got to mention that when this happens the mixture goes from in the rich to the bottom of the lean side..

I'd have a close look at fuel pump or partially blocked pickup. Probably best to check fuel delivery pressure under acceleration if you've got a gauge.

I was crewing for a WRX in the ARC and they had a similar problem. Turned to be a piece of what looked like indicator lens in the fuel pickup pipe. Surprisingly, the pickup had no filter on the end of it.

Also might be worth checking AFM and air lines/hoses for leaks.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

I ended up fitting a new VL Turbo fuel pump to mine because at times it died off a little for no obvious reason . One thing I did notice was it felt flat if I drove off cold up hills - initially .

I know it's money but if you're going somewhere like Fraser it would be good to have a fuel pump thats a known quantity . It would be a long expensive tow back from Wadi Pt if it died . Have bad visions of tide rolling in and and ...

These are old cars and if they have the original pump and 300,000 k's on them they've done their job .
Generally worn out roller cell EFI pumps don't just stop - they just can't maintain fuel pressure and volume at times of high demand ie heavy going in sand and the engine coughs and splutters along or stalls .
With turbo engines it's worse because for the injectors to spray into an area of elevated manifold pressure the pump has to be able to support higher pressures without it's volume output falling .

Your call , I know what I'd do with an old pump even just for reliabilities sake .

Does sound like a fuel delivery issue, check to see you have no crap in the lines on the manifold and that the fule lines where put on the correct way around. The top one is fuel in.
